There are many myths surrounding cancer and cigar smoking and we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we did not make ourselves aware of the health risks. Smoking cigars is bad for our health.
Yes, it is easy to dismiss the health risks and say that we do not inhale so we will not get cancer; but that is only partly true. We may not be at high risk from lung cancer if we don't inhale, but we are at risk from mouth and lip cancer. We can tell ourselves that we only have a cigar occasionally, but, as with a cigarette smoker, nicotine is nicotine. Even the occasional nicotine can cause cancer, and for the cigar smoker, the concentrations of nicotine can be as high, if not higher, than if we smoked a pack of cigarettes for each cigar we smoke.
When it comes to health issues it is not enough to listen to what others have to say about the dangers of cigar smoking. Some people believe there is not any danger at all. Make sure you know about the health risks before you continue to smoke.

Let Ideas Compete
Cancer is the one of the main causes of death worldwide. According to the latest scientific research reprt, cancer contributed for approximately 7.5 million deaths which creates 13 % of all death all over in the world. If the trend is going on at this rate, in the year of 2030 it will reach roughly 12 million. There are numerous campaigns made all over the world to raise the knowledge among the people about the deadly consequences of cancer and human interventions to prevent it. Researches show nearly 30% of cancer can be prevented by avoiding risk factors. Tobacco is the single largest preventable cause of tobacco cancer in the world. Smokers have the 7 to 11 times more probability of getting cancer than the non smoking persons. Other tobacco diseases related to lung, larynx and esophagus, etc, directly originated from smoking. Tobacco can kill half of all smokers. Smokers can easily stop the use of tobacco mainly by his will power.

Looking to buy a gift for a cigar lover? If you know they love cigars but do not know what they prefer to smoke, instead of buying cigars you can consider an ashtray. Cigar smokers need a particular kind of ashtray and they are not all equal.
Do not buy an ashtray because you think it looks nice. While that may be OK for the cigarette smoker, the cigar smokers needs something functional. Cigars make a lot of ash so what you need to look for is an ashtray that is of a good size. Not too large to be gaudy, but large enough to take the ash of two cigars. Your cigar lover may not always smoke a cigar alone.
Look for something solid. Many cigar smokers smoke big cigars, both in width and length. An ash tray needs to be able to hold the weight and length of a big cigar. A glass or crystal ashtray will look nice and also be easy to clean.
Most towns have a specialized tobacco store that sells cigars and cigar paraphernalia. You should be able to find a good selection there.

Watch any old western and the cigar smoking cowboy, usually John Wayne, will bite off the end of his cigar and spit it into the dirt. Then a long wooden match or a piece of burning wood from the camp fire is used to light the cigar while it is already in their mouth.
If you learned how to cut and light a cigar from watching old westerns, stop what you are doing before you embarrass your self any further.
The wrapping on a cigar is made from one leaf. It should be smooth and firm. It is anchored in the cap of the cigar, the often bullet shaped closed end. To properly, and expertly, cut your cigar you need to do one firm cut to remove the cap. Take off too much and your cigar wrapper will unravel resulting in an unsmokeable mess of tobacco. Take off too little and you won't get an even draw.
When it comes to lighting your cigar, long wooden matches are best though a butane lighter can be used. If you use something else you risk contaminating your cigar with the smell or vapor. Even using a match you must wait until the match is fully alight and the initial sulfur blast has burned off.
Follow these simple procedures and enjoy you cigar at your campfire or hearth.

A humidor is a key accessory for any cigar lover. When you initially start to smoke a cigar it would be easy to think a humidor is an unnecessary expense. After all, cigarettes are OK just left in the packet. Cigar smoking though is an entirely different experience.
A cigarette smoker can smoke over 20 cigarettes a day and so a pack of cigarettes does not get any time to succumb to the elements in which it is kept. A good cigar will cost much more than a packet of 20 cigarettes so we are really talking about a different culture altogether.
Most cigar smokers will buy more than one cigar at a time; often they will buy a box of 10 or 20. The seasoned cigar smoker may buy more than that. Cigars are not smoked; they are savored. The cigar smoker may not even smoke one every day. Hence the need for a humidor.
A humidor will keep your cigars at the optimum temperature and humidity. Your cigar should be as fresh when you smoke it as it was the day you placed it in the humidor. Humidors come in all sizes and budget ranges so it should be easy to find one that is perfect for your needs.
